What does this mean?

NMSU has been certified by the National Weather Service (since 2010) as having reliable, redundant means of receiving and disseminating emergency weather information to our community.  Our emergency service dispatchers and our police officers have also been trained on how to recognize dangerous weather conditions.  During large outdoor special events, we sometimes even bring in on-site meteorological monitoring (thanks to the National Weather Service) to help spot potential weather dangers and guide emergency management decisions and actions.  You can learn more about the Storm Ready program at https://www.weather.gov/stormready/.
